MT SURVEYS DOES A LITTLE TEAM BUILDING IN SUBMERGED

Taking a little well deserved time out of the office for the team in August, MT Surveys decided we needed some time to bond, and went to try the Great Escape in Leeds after hearing so many positive things about it.

We arrived and were all a little excited after a cheeky couple of gins, but started to feel slightly apprehensive when we were blindfolded to go into our Submarine, and we were separated and the lights went out….

We did what we do best, and it really showed how we worked together on site, we split the tasks up, we worked together to pass tools from one compartment to the other, we solved problems together and we escaped with time to spare.

All in all a fantastic night was had by all and we'd highly recommend the experience to anyone!

Mark Townend, Managing Director comments: “When I first opened the doors for MT Surveys it was an exciting time, but it was all systems go. Our clients knew what we were capable of and the work we would produce and we were off to a flying start. It did mean that our website and our logo did not get the attention it deserved. The launch of the new logo and website rectifies this.”

“Our new website shows the types of surveys we have undertaken, showcases some of our work and provides us the platform to be able to showcase the new and exciting projects we have been working on. Our designer tweaked our logo to give it a refreshed look and feel completing our rebrand and launch.”

We are delighted to announce that Richard Clement joins the ever increasing MT Surveys team.

Rich had worked with many of our surveyors before and when he heard we were recruiting, could not wait to be back with friends and back on site. Fully qualified in surveying and a maths teacher, Rich has what it takes to ensure all your surveying needs are fulfilled.

"We are delighted to have Rich as part of the team, he is a thorough surveyor and fun to have around the office. Welcome to the team Rich!" comments Mark Townend.

We have always believed that scanning holds its own place in the world of surveying, and although we use all methods, we have seen site and processing times significantly shorten with laser scanning, enabling us to reduce turnaround times for our clients. I am sure you will agree this is better for all of us, so we are increasing our fleet.

We are also looking to buy a TS16, and have been extensively trialling the kit and codes as well as testing processing times. This has led to a collaboration from MT Surveys and a leading software company, as we're the only company using kit and software together in a certain way, to gain the most out of both, and ultimately provide you with the highest of service and product levels.

We have all worked with Wayne before and he brings to the team further experience in scanning, as well as more traditional surveying methods.

The majority of his time last year was taken working for one client (oh and he happened to take a 5 week holiday to Australia too), but I am sure you will see him around more over the coming months. We are really pleased he decided to join the team.

“Wayne has worked us with before and we are aware of his capabilities and scanning experience. He is a valuable asset to add to team, and we are really pleased he applied to join the team here" comments Mark Townend, Director at MT Surveys. “He will enable surveys to be turned around faster, at the same time adhereing to the standards we have set here at MT Surveys. Welcome to the team Wayne.”

HIGH level of demand from restaurant companies for units has led to plans for a food hub in the Brunel Shopping Centre being extended. Last year, it was revealed the section of centre going over the street is going to be transformed into a hub known as The Crossing, providing a town centre food offering into the evening, accessible when shops are closed.

When advertised, demand for space was so high plans were put in place to extend the area, thus creating a need for further survey works to be carried out by MT Surveys. MT Surveys had already carried out several stages of the survey at the centre, and work still continues, as the town sees major investment and development.

Although the developer has not revealed the companies who are interested in the development it is rumoured to be a seven-figure investment, will help to revitalise the town centre.

Topographical surveys are often carried out in the initial stages of development so planning applications can be produced, and designs built upon a solid foundation of accurate information.

Work to transform the Park Avenue cricket ground in Bradford into a £5.5 million state-of-the-art facility has officially begun, with a new artificial all-weather pitch installed on the famous field.

The bid to restore Park Avenue to its former glory is a partnership between Yorkshire County Cricket Club (YCCC), the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), and Bradford Council, with work mapped out in five stages between now and 2019.

A planning application for the first stage of the development - which would see eight practice wickets and a community pavilion built on the site of the former Bradford Park Avenue football pitch next to the ground at an estimated cost of £570,000 - was submitted in December and is expected to be determined by the end of the month.

If permission is granted, work is due to start in the Spring with aim of having the community nets up and running this summer.
The funding will come from Bradford Council's capital programme and the ECB.

The full plans for the site include a new £2.5 million pavilion, complete with county cricket standard changing rooms and a 250-capacity restaurant, more than 5,000 new seats, and ECB standard floodlights at a cost of £1.35million.

Mark Townend, Director of MT Surveys comments, “As a local company we are proud to have worked on this local project. Topographical surveys are often carried out at initial development stages, and this was carried out in order to provide a sound platform on which developments could be planned. We look forward to all planning permissions being granted, knowing we have helped contribute towards the future of football and sports for generations to come."

MT Surveys carried out a full scan of the property to allow the architects to complete designs and produced planning applications.

The former workshops will comprise of the holiday lets with some proposed new build to aid in the economics of the restoration of the kiln and engine house. These will become a museum that is open to the public. Work is commencing on the planning application.

Mark Townend, MT Surveys comments: “The site was fantastic to work at, the buildings were lovely and the fact it still has a working kiln made it even more special. The topographical and measured building survey carried out allows the architects to develop extensive plans for planning and development, we are pleased we could help with this project.”

January 2016 saw MT Surveys undertaking a different project - the management of an office renovation and move.

We have taken space at Unit 1 Baildon Mills, Baildon. We have taken enough space which will allow our team to grow. We are newly painted, with shiny new furniture and are working incredibly hard on all your projects.
